More Cancel Culture Insanity: They Go After Disney Over 2006 Movie Merchandise

The cancel culture mob is going completely insane they are now going after Disney over movie merchandise from the 2006 movie Pirates of the Caribbean.

When Disney released the first blockbuster Pirates of the Caribbean movie, 14 years ago, its jewelry line put out a whole pirates series of necklaces, pins, rings, and other trinkets associated with the movie. Some of the items included a little gold flintlock pistol, fishermen’s hooks, a cutlass (sword), a skull, and other pirates items associated with the movie.

One of these trinkets showed up on a site called WorthPoint, which is a collectible tracking site, it is a 14k gold-plated hangman’s noose necklace and the cancel culture went nuts over it.

The noose, which refers to a movie scene when Johnny Depp’s character, Captain Jack Sparrow was going to be hung. The necklace came in a Disney Coutre velvet pouch and had the Disney Coutre oval tag near the clasp.

When TMZ contacted WorthPoint “to see why they were featuring the offensive and racist item, they told us they’d take it down immediately … which they did. A rep went on to tell us it probably never should’ve been up, but might’ve slipped through their algorithm cracks.”

WorthPoint does not sell anything all they do is search online listings and make them available to collectors, Disney has not responded to TMZ.

There is some good news regarding the cancel culture even prominent left-wing “journalists,”  activists, and commentators have signed a letter opposing it.

Over 100 people have signed a letter calling for an end to cancel culture.

“Our cultural institutions are facing a moment of trial,” the letter begins. “Powerful protests for racial and social justice are leading to overdue demands for police reform, along with wider calls for greater equality and inclusion across our society, not least in higher education, journalism, philanthropy, and the arts.”

“But this needed reckoning has also intensified a new set of moral attitudes and political commitments that tend to weaken our norms of open debate and toleration of differences in favor of ideological conformity. As we applaud the first development, we also raise our voices against the second.”

The letter goes on to explain that President Trump is a “threat to democracy” however states the “intolerant climate” needs to end.
