Watch: Dr. Fauci Answers An Important Question About The Wuhan Virus That Many Of Us Have Been Wondering

The Trump administration continues to send out Dr. Fauci to get the word out about the coronavirus. Right now the administration seems to be focusing on getting the word out to young people.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the Chief medical advisor in Trump’s COVID-19 task force said that he believes those that recover from the Wuhan Virus are protected from getting it again.

As we have grown accustomed, Fauci doesn’t like to speak in absolutes so he used the word “thinks.” He was responding to a question about why China reported that so many people were testing positive a second time for the coronavirus.

During an appearance on The Daily Show, Dr. Fauci made some informative points about the coronavirus.

He said that the disease is turning into a real super spreader:

“There are other diseases — Ebola was frightening, but Ebola gets transmitted only when you’re in very close contact with a person who is very, very ill. With this disease…it spreads very easily. You can even spread it when you’re not symptomatic. So it’s insidious and treacherous, in that you could spread it really easily.”

He also wanted the Daily Show’s audience to remember this virus is no joke.

“When people used to ask me…what…I most worry about with regard to emerging infection diseases, [it’s] a respiratory-borne illness that easily spreads from person to person but that has a high degree of morbidity and mortality. [U]nfortunately, that’s the worst nightmare that you could have is to have something like that.”

Dr. Fauci also veered away that you could get the Wuhan virus twice.

“We don’t know…for 100% certain, ’cause we haven’t done the study to see re-challenges, whether they’ve been protected. But I feel really confident that, if this virus acts like every other virus that we know, once you get infected, get better, clear the virus, that you’ll have immunity that will protect you against reinfection. So it’s never 100%, but I’d be willing to bet anything that people who recover are really protected against reinfection.”

Stories were coming out of China that people were testing positive twice however, most believe now that the tests conducted in China were poor and did not give accurate results.
