Media Wasn’t Able To Cover This One Up: BLM Is Coming To The Aid Of Those Arrested In Chicago During Riot, ‘Anything We Take They Can…’

Black Lives Matter members in Chicago held a rally on Monday after the city was looted and more than 100 people were arrested. During the violence looters caused over $60 million in property damage and 13 police officers were injured.

The rally was organized by Black Lives Matter Chicago and took place at the police station in the South Loop where organizers believed those arrested were being held in custody. One Black Lives Matter organizer for the rally called the looting “reparations.”

“I don’t care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats,” said Ariel Atkins, a BLM organizer, according to NBC Chicago. “That makes sure that person has clothes.”

“That is reparations,” Atkins continued. “Anything they wanted to take, they can take it because these businesses have insurance.”

Black Lives Matter Chicago also issued a statement obtained by the Chicago Sun-Times that said:

“The mayor clearly has not learned anything since May, and she would be wise to understand that the people will keep rising up until the [Chicago Police Department] is abolished and our Black communities are fully invested in.”

City officials believe that the looting was sparked after a social media post asking people to assemble on Chicago’s business district after an officer-involved shooting earlier on Sunday.

Officers responding to a call about a man with a gun and a foot chase ensued. The man then “turned and fired” at officers. Latrell Allen, 20 was shot by police after he fired at officers and was charged with attempted murder. A few hours later a Facebook video falsely claimed officers shot and killed a 15-year-old boy.

That post prompted hundreds to descend on downtown Chicago during the overnight hours smashing windows and grabbing anything they could get their hands on.

The media wasn’t able to cover this one up, Black Lives Matter (the organization) is telling us exactly who they are. On Monday in the city of Chicago that is also experiencing a spike in violence 5 more people were shot and one was killed.
