Trump Gets Flak For Tweet About Rape And Incest Abortion Exceptions

There has been a lot of movement when it comes to Pro-life advocacy. Georgia recently passed the Heartbeat bill and now Alabama has passed a very strict anti-abortion law. The law would make it so an abortion would only be allowed if the mother’s life was in danger. Trump thought they were missing a few exemptions: incest and rape.

He tweeted the following not calling out Alabama per se but sending a friendly reminder.

As most people know, and for those who would like to know, I am strongly pro-life, with the three exceptions – rape, incest and protecting the life of the mother – the same position taken by Ronald Reagan.

We have come very far in the last two years with 105 wonderful new Federal Judges (many more to come), two great new Supreme Court Justices, the Mexico City Policy, and a whole new and positive attitude about the right to life.

The radical Left, with late-term abortion (and worse), is imploding on this issue. We must stick together and win for life in 2020. If we are foolish and do not stay UNITED as one, all of our hard fought gains for life can, and will, rapidly disappear!”

But this was not received well from everyone including pro-lifers.

Abra Singleton, the Southwest Regional Director for the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform (CBR), another anti-abortion organization, also replied to the president:”

Either abortion ends the life of an innocent human, or it doesn’t. What you’re saying is that certain preborn humans are not worthy of life. Humans conceived in rape/incest are still humans.”

The topic of abortion is a hot button issue there are Pro-lifer’s that would say Alabama did not go far enough and those more moderate when it comes to Abortion that would side with Trump.

It’s a tough call. A woman who gets raped that decides to keep the baby might be resentful and end up treating the child poorly. Equally putting a baby up for adoption or into the system is not always a great route for the child either.

And incest usually promotes genetic defects and a decrease in intelligence.

Or the baby could be completely healthy and live a normal life.

Do you think that Trump went too far? Or is he on point?
